Location: Gould Hall, UW Seattle Campus
Leads: Gabriel Rui and Anna Hayashi
Timeline: December 2025 to Present
Restore the long-term health and functionality of the Biodiversity Green Wall by implementing an automated, sensor-driven watering system with remote monitoring.
Main deliverables include a replacement control system with an esp 32, a cloud system, and potentially a website or mobile app for remote monitoring.
Progress Summary
WI 25: Start of project. Diagnosing problems of the initial irrigation system.
SP 26: Apply for STF mini-grant.
Start prototyping a new irrigation system with esp 32 and sensors.
Current and Future Objectives
- Diagnose cistern pump system
- Test sensors (moisture, transducer, etc.) in initial irrigation system
- Get approximate cost estimate for electrical and mechanical systems
- Finalize microcontroller prototype for control system
- Start integration of prototype into system
