This project partners with the Campus Sustainability Fund to meet the device charging needs of students and other campus visitors.
We aim to create a free-standing, solar-powered charging device for IMA guest use on campus. The device will have the charging capabilities for 16 mobile devices.
Progress Summary
S23: disassembled previous Sol Station and took inventory of materials
A23-S24: sketched device design and looked into materials for the device structure. Did some 3D printing experimentation for the locker component.
A24-S25: Bought structural materials (metal) and used metal workshop to begin cutting materials for use. Redesigned the device due to being sent wrong materials.
Current and Future Objectives
A25: Currently working on finalizing structural design, picking out electrical materials to buy, and workshopping an electrical diagram.
W26: Purchase/receive electrical materials, begin making electrical system, begin device construction
S26: Goal: finish a fully operational Sol Station device (or at least get very close)
After S26: Aim to make 1 or 2 more Sol Stations, possibly improving on original design
